In the United States, INOmax is manufactured at the INO Therapeutics facility in Port Allen, Louisiana, just outside of Baton Rouge. In 1995, construction began for a site to blend pharmaceutical-grade nitric oxide for use in clinical research trials; a facility for manufacturing the bulk drug was completed in 1996. Starting with only a dozen technicians and quality inspectors who worked to develop product for clinical trials, the facility has grown to a three-acre, state-of-the-art facility.
The Port Allen facility supplies customers throughout the United States, Canada, and South America. In addition to creating the drug product, Port Allen is the site for the production of the nitric oxide that is used for the finished product in Europe.
